Project 7: Spring Break Challenge

Hello. The Challenge for this week in Project Run and Play is Spring Break Challenge. The idea is design a look for my kid to wear that is inspired by your favorite or dream vacation spot.  It wasn't  easy decide just for one.

And chose Easter Island or Rapa Nui.

My cousin took this picture last year. She was there for WORK! Lucky girl!

I would love to know Rapa Nui and I would love to participate in their festival called Tapati.
It´s every February and there is a lot of fun things. One of them is the body paint parade. This parade is for support one of two candidates for Queen of the Tapati Rapa Nui festival.

Inspired in the pictures I found in Google about Tapati, I designed this look for my son.

Looks boring, right? But wait he is moving...

The tee is painted with fabric marker and has some patterns I saw in the images.
The designs are not symmetrical and I painted only one arm.

The back is painted too. I took an XXL tee and made this one for Big Boy. The pattern is Banyan with long sleeves.

I chose white tee because people painted their bodies with white and then draw different things on them. The best is this boy love both, shorts and tee and he is crazy about Rapa Nui and he would love to participate in the Tapati Challenge to be "The Bird Man"

The short has a small embroidery with an image I found a lot too. The image is in both of his legs. Fabric is denim and the pattern is from Dana Made It.

More information about Tapati, here and a great post I found.

Well done Carolina! What an interesting place! I would love to be there for the festival, too! It certainly looks (especially in the last pic) that your boy loves his outfit :)

Ooooh, fantastic creation! And I love your inspiration too! Your guy looks great...I think boys are so hard to sew for, but I tried this week too!
